Maifest is the traditional German celebration of spring — and Germania’s event is quite unlike the typical local festivals that take place on city streets. In similar fashion to the Maifest celebrations in small villages and towns in rural Germany, this event is close to and surrounded by nature. Each year the Germania Society raises a stein to the blooming flowers and warming weather with their own German Maifest celebration — the most authentic in the Cincinnati area.

Germania Maifest features traditional German food, including whole roasted boars, legendary Thüringer Bratwurst, ruebens, delicious German pastries, and more. They also have a variety of imported German Biers, Wein and Schnapps, including homemade Maiwein (“May wine” — a mixture of: Riesling wine, champagne, brandy, fresh berries, and Woodruff syrup). This year they are also proud to feature local craft beer from Braxton Brewing CompanyTaft’s Ale House, and Fifty West Brewery, as welk as and imported German beer from Bitburger and many more.

There’s great entertainment, including live music — both German and American — dancing, and the crowning of the Mai Queen. There will be carnival rides, hot air ballon rides, a Kiddie Corner with crafts and activities, games for kids, as well as games of skill and chance for the big kids.

Imported German merchandise and gifts, as well as local craft products will be for sale. Make sure you visit the Spring Flower Market — just in time for planting!

Join the Germania Society in celebrating the blooming of spring in a beautiful setting — in Colerain, OH, just minutes from Cincinnati.

Entrance fee is $3 per person, children 12 and under are free. All active and retired military personnel will receive free admission all weekend with current military ID. Free parking is at Germania Park, 3529 West Kemper Road, Cincinnati OH 45251 until full. Additional parking available at 2 convenient locations with regular shuttle bus service:
