Karneval Opening Ball – SATURDAY

The Germania Erste Karneval Gesellschaft kicks off the Fifth Season of fun and foolishness by hosting the 2016 Karneval Opening Ball on Saturday, November 12, beginning at 7:11 pm. The highlight of the ball will be the crowning of the new prince and princess (Prinzenpaar), who will reign for the entire season between 11/11/16 and Ash Wednesday, 2017!

Karneval is celebrated all around the world during the season before Lent, and the Germania Society celebrates the festivities Rheinische-style (western part of Germany), which is known for its parades and costume balls. The Rheinische Karneval season begins at 11:11am on November 11. At the beginning of each season a Prince is chosen to reign over the period of celebration and he is crowned at the Opening Ball.

The 2016 Karneval Opening Ball will be held at the Germania Society Klubhaus at 3529 West Kemper Road. Entertainment will be provided at the Opening Ball by DJ Dave, along with performances by the Germania Prinzengarde. Food and beverages will be available for purchase as well as chances for raffles. Cost for the dance is $11 per person. Please contact Maria Geers 513-508-7794 or Diane Pegram 513-677-5266 to make reservations.
